Old age home in Mira Road

One of the partnering NGOs for Vedriti India Foundation, based at Mira Bhayander in Mumbai, takes care of the under privileged elders by providing them healthy food, medication and hygienic living conditions. It was started in 2017 and has around 32 elders living there as of now. Though the old age home has plans to expand and serve more elders in need, they are struggling with poor infrastructure currently.

Vedriti India has organized a community day and senior care day at this foundation along with equipping them with infrastructure like bedside tables, industrial washing machine and drier. Vedriti India foundation also helps them deal with the water crisis in the area by paying their monthly water bills.

Old age home in Titwala

Founded in 2016 by Dilip Mhatre, the Titwala Old Age Home has provided shelter for over 60 elders so far. It is managed under the leadership of Alka (with 15 years at the National Association of Disabled Enterprises).

This old age home currently has about 23 senior citizens. With most residents belonging to the families from below poverty line, their families are not able to pay up for the minimum monthly charges. As a result, this old age home is struggling to meet their basic needs of monthly groceries. Due to their remote location, they don't have access to clean water in adequate quantities and there is a tremendous scope to improve medical care & infrastructure.

Vedriti India has been helping them with the monthly supply of groceries, fruits and vegetables. We have also installed an industrial water filter that can help the residents with clean water along with water tanks to store water for daily needs. We have also installed solar lights across the place to cope up with power shortages.

Furthermore, a health camp and COVID-19 vaccination drive were conducted on April 3, 2022, with a team of general physicians, ophthalmologists, and gynecologists. Along with the prescribed medicines, we have also arranged for eye glasses and cataract surgeried for the residents. Also, to cheer up our elders, a local artist was hired to entertain them with music and a magic show.

Old age home in Thane

Founded by Archana Margi,in December 2019 in Thane offers a nurturing and supportive environment for senior citizens.

This place which is home to 18 elderly residents.faces several challenges currently, including limited funds, scarcity of groceries, basic infrastructure needs, and inadequate medical care.

Vedriti India has arranged a Senior Care Day at this old age home and has organized a medical camp and a live music event. We are crafting further plans to address these needs and ensure the elders receive the love and support they deserve.

Zila Parishad School, Manpada, Palgarh

In Manpada, Palgarh, the Zila Parishad School is a lifeline for many tribal and underprivileged children. Imagine a school with only two teachers for 100 students, where classes were held under a tree after the school building collapsed a few months back.

While the government provided mid-day meals, there was no kitchen to cook the food.The government had approved land and funds to build one classroom. This single room couldn't fit all 100 students, and there was no money for other essential facilities like a kitchen or toilets. Although the school had permission to teach up to the 8th grade, it couldn't accept new students because of the lack of space and only two teachers. Many children had to travel long distances to attend school beyond 5th grade, due to lack of infrastructure causing many to drop out.

Vedriti India Foundation stepped in to help. Here’s how we made a difference:

Built Another Classroom: We added an extra classroom to reduce overcrowding and provide a better learning environment.
Constructed Toilets: We built separate toilets for girls and boys, making it more comfortable for all students, especially girls.
Built a Kitchen: A new kitchen was constructed where mid day meals supplied by the government could be cooked and served hot, ensuring the children receive nutritious food daily.
Improved the School Grounds: We leveled and tiled the ground for morning assemblies and playtime and added playground equipment like carousels, see-saws, and slides.
Secured the School: We built a compound wall and entry gate to make the school safer for the children.

Our efforts have transformed the Zila Parishad School into a place where children can learn, play, and dream.
